Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola explains the reason why Man City was defeated by Manchester United in the FA Cup final (1-2)
The boss of Manchester City, Pep Guardiola, talked about their loss to Manchester United in the FA Cup Final.
Because of how Manchester City played in their FA Cup Final loss to Manchester United, Pep Guardiola took the blame.
Even though they finished 31 points ahead of United in the table, the Blues were not expected to win the double. Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo scored goals in the first half at Wembley, which shocked everyone. It was disappointing that the Blues lost, even though Jeremy Doku got a late goal after they played better in the second half.
City couldn’t hide how upset they were about the outcome, even though they stayed to give United a guard of honor as they lifted the trophy. It was a disappointing end to another great season. Guardiola denied that their celebrations for winning the Premier League had anything to do with their poor performance and claimed that the result was due to his tactical plan.
“I don’t think my plan worked out well. The second half was a lot better. We played harder because we were down 2-0 and had nothing to lose.
“The game was close. For the second goal, United did a great job of moving the ball around after we gave away the first one. We did our best.
“We had clear chances in the second half which wasn’t easy because they had man marking and defended the pockets but we had the chances and unfortunately we scored a goal a little bit late.”
