Rico Lewis is thrilled that Pep Guardiola is giving him the chance to start every game for Manchester City this season.

Lewis probably knows that it will be hard to keep Kyle Walker out of the starting lineup once the doctor says he is fully fit.

But for now, the man who makes £25,000 a week has made the most of his chances.

As Manchester City beat Ipswich Town 4-1 on Saturday, Pep Guardiola praised Lewis’s play and called him a “exceptional player.”

Against West Ham United, the 19-year-old will want to keep his spot in City’s team.

The young player was once again one of his team’s best against Ipswich.

After Ipswich Town beat Man City, Savinho praised a friend.

Lewis was always a threat for Chelsea against Kieran McKenna’s team because he seems to be playing three parts at once: as an inverted right-back, as a traditional full-back out wide, and as one of the two attacking midfielders with Bernardo Silva.

Still, it looks like the Englishman is comfortable in such a multifaceted part.

Based on Sofascore, the defender from Bury didn’t let the ball get past him a single time. He made 88% of his passes (61 out of 68) and won six of his nine ground battles.

Some of the Sky Blues school graduate’s positioning and movement at the Etihad Stadium showed what a smart player he is.

Savinho told Lewis how well he thought he did on his Instagram post after the game to celebrate Manchester City beating Ipswich.

The Brazilian wrote, “Top craque,” which in Portuguese means “great player.”

Signs that Savinho and Rico Lewis are becoming more of a team
There were signs that Savinho and Lewis were becoming a better team against both Chelsea and Ipswich.

It looks like both players are on the same page because they play quick one-twos and run around the defense to find the other player with a pass.

There is no doubt that both Lewis and Savinho have great skill and can make good decisions.

So, it looked like it was hard for the Ipswich players to figure out what they were up to and keep them quiet.

Pep Guardiola would be excited for the two to learn even more about each other as players as they work out and play together more in the coming weeks and months.
