Manchester City has reached a verbal agreement for the third largest transfer in the club’s history, as four transactions totalling £186 million progress towards finalisation.

Manchester City is poised to secure a formidable striker as their third-most expensive acquisition. Additionally, two other players are scheduled to undergo medical examinations today (Friday), and a £55 million offer has been prepared for a player from Juventus.

A blockbuster January window was always anticipated at Man City following an eye-opening start to the season. Pep Guardiola’s formidable squad appeared to be experiencing a collective decline, as an excessive number of their pivotal players were simultaneously exhibiting a downward trajectory in performance.

The club has reacted decisively, having secured four new and costly signings that are either finalised, awaiting medical examinations, or currently in progress, just over two weeks into the transfer window.

Initially, Sky Germany has reported that Manchester City has reached a ‘verbal agreement’ regarding the financial terms necessary to acquire striker Omar Marmoush from Eintracht Frankfurt. In a statement to X, reporter Florian Plettenberg indicated that Eintracht Frankfurt and Manchester City have come to a verbal accord regarding the transfer of Omar Marmoush.

In a report on X, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano stated: “Today marks the day of medical examinations at Manchester City for both Vitor Reis and Khusanov, with announcements anticipated shortly.” Both central defenders have joined Manchester City with immediate effect. Reis, an 18-year-old player, is transferring from the Brazilian club Palmeiras for a fee of €35 million/£29.5 million.

The acquisition of lens defender Khusanov, aged 20, is projected to entail an expenditure of approximately £33.8 million. Manchester City has successfully finalised agreements regarding personal terms with both players; however, it is possible that these acquisitions may not be the conclusion of their recruitment efforts.

The pair are centre-backs by vocation. Manchester City has initiated discussions with both the club and player representatives regarding the transfer of full-back Andrea Cambiaso from Juventus.

The 24-year-old Italian international is estimated to be valued at approximately £67.5 million; however, Manchester City is reportedly planning to submit an initial offer of £55 million. In his latest update, Romano elucidated that it remains uncertain whether Cambiaso will join this month or during the summer, contingent upon the successful negotiation of a contract.

“According to Romano, it is understood that Manchester City will engage in direct discussions with Juventus on Friday regarding the potential acquisition of Andrea Cambiaso.”

Preliminary discussions regarding the player’s perspective were favourable concerning a five-year contract, with the possibility of an additional season. City and Juventus will also deliberate on the timetable of the transaction, whether it will occur in January or June.

In total, should Manchester City successfully secure the acquisitions of Khusanov, Reis, Cambiaso, and Marmoush, their expenditure on these four transfers will amount to approximately £186 million. Recent developments regarding Manchester City – Erling Haaland…
