Manchester City is set to integrate new acquisitions into their lineup for the upcoming match against Chelsea, as the Blues have consented to a ‘record fee’ in anticipation of their visit to the Etihad Stadium.
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has acknowledged that all three of the club’s recent acquisitions will be included in his squad for the upcoming match against Chelsea on Saturday, as he continues to contend with injury challenges. Egyptian international Omar Marmoush, Brazilian defender Vitor Reis, and Uzbek standout Abdukodir Khusanov all arrived at the Etihad Stadium this week, with a total transfer expenditure amounting to £122 million.
In response to an inquiry during his pre-match press conference regarding the readiness of any of the new recruits to participate in the upcoming match, Guardiola affirmed, “Yes.” We currently lack participants. They are capable of participating; however,
I am currently uncertain regarding the specific position they will assume.Guardiola asserted that Manchester City’s hectic schedule in January was not part of the initial strategy; however, due to a lacklustre performance, their summer plans were expedited by six months in an effort to enhance their performance in the latter half of the season.
He remarked, “During the previous season, our accomplishments were limited owing to the extraordinary calibre of the team.” We had initially anticipated conducting three or four sessions during the summer; however, due to the significant number of injuries and associated challenges we encountered, it became necessary to address the matter here.
“Indeed, the introduction of new participants can be beneficial.” Certainly, their presence is attributable to that purpose. Such an occurrence would not have transpired without the multitude of circumstances we have encountered.
Furthermore, tomorrow, we will have, at best, only one or two central defenders available. This underscores the significance of having a larger squad; however, the most favourable atmosphere is achieved when one can secure victories while performing well.
“That is what we must endeavour to accomplish once more.”The City team suffered a defeat of 4-2 against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League during the midweek, whereas Chelsea did not participate in any matches, having already completed their initial set of Europa Conference League fixtures.
Guardiola’s team secured a 2-0 victory against the Blues on the inaugural day of the season at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca worked with Guardiola at City before leaving to assume charge of Leicester City. He successfully facilitated the promotion of the Foxes prior to his transfer to Chelsea.
Regarding Chelsea’s enhancement under Maresca, Guardiola remarked, “I believe we identified the team from the very first day when we competed in the pre-season in the United States.” I am beginning to recognise numerous aspects that we have discussed extensively over the past several years.
Excellent. I am exceedingly delighted; I consider myself fortunate to have collaborated with him over the past several years. Everything happened with him and his family, if he’s fine, I am fine. “I am pleased for him.”
