Manchester City’s Mateo Kovacic earned his inaugural brace in the Premier League during their 3-2 victory over Fulham.

The midfielder appeared in his eighth match of the season in the match against Marco Silva’s team at the Etihad Stadium.

In the Champions League, the 30-year-old was an unused substitute in City’s 4-0 victory over Slovan Bratislava. However, he played the entire 90 minutes in the team’s comeback victory over Fulham on Saturday.

Six minutes after Pep Guardiola’s team fell behind 1-0 in the first half, Kovacic scored his second league goal of the season, bringing the host team even.

It was only two minutes into the second half when the Croatian international scored again, securing City’s first lead.

After the match concluded with both teams scoring an additional goal, Kovacic expressed his admiration for the contributions of another City player who significantly influenced the outcome.

Jeremy Doku’s goal in the Man City vs Fulham match was praised by Mateo Kovacic.
Kovacic had this to say about the goal scored by Jeremy Doku in the second half to help City secure the win when quizzed about it during an interview with BBC Radio 5 Live (via BBC Sport) following the match against the Cottagers.

He stated, “What you expect from a great winger is to make a difference off the bench, and he did an excellent job.” I enjoyed the game today.

What comments did Guardiola make regarding Doku’s goal against Fulham?
The £50,000-per-week player eventually scored the winning goal with a sweetly struck strike on the periphery of the box after replacing Jack Grealish in the 62nd minute.

Guardiola also expressed his admiration for Doku’s goal against Fulham, considering it “incredible” in terms of his execution. Kovacic is not the only individual to commend the winger for this achievement.

Kovacic’s recent assessment of the 22-year-old as a remarkable winger and his commendation of his contribution to the match against Fulham should instill Doku with a strong sense of self-assurance, which ideally will result in him delivering comparable performances for the remainder of the season.
