Manchester City midfielder Phil Foden delivers a three-word comment to his teammate Rico Lewis after the 4-0 win Manchester City’s against Slovan Bratislava in the UEFA Champions League match
Some of Manchester City’s best players in their 4-0 win over Slovan Bratislava were Phil Foden and Rico Lewis.
City tied Manchester United’s record by going 25 games without losing in the Champions League. This showed how dominant they are at the highest level of team football.
Foden scored what has become his trademark goal by putting the ball into the back of the net from far away on his first start in Europe’s top league this season.
In the second half, the Manchester City player sent a beautiful clipped pass to James McAtee, who scored with a well-hit shot that left Dominik Takac with no choice.
Lewis, his pass that set up Erling Haaland’s goal was beautiful.
The man who makes £25,000 a week chose to go straight to Haaland behind Slovan Bratislava’s defense.
After getting around the goalie, the Norwegian tapped the ball into an empty net.
As Manchester City beat Slovan Bratislava, Foden told Lewis
Both Lewis and Foden showed signs that they could become a dangerous attacking midfield pair.
The City duo played precise passes to each other between the lines, as if they understood each other.
Because Foden and Lewis are both so good at technical skills, they can trust each other to keep the ball in tight spots.
They have practiced and played together for years, and it showed in their most recent Champions League game.
Manchester City easily beat Slovan Bratislava, and Foden left a comment on Lewis’ Instagram post.
“What a player,” said the 24-year-old.
Rico Lewis has also been praised by Phil Foden in the past.
He has also sung Lewis’s praises in the past, making a point of showing how highly he regards his fellow countryman.
He brought up the fact that the flexible defender is much more “smart” and “aware” of his surroundings now than he was when he was 19.
Since Foden also went through Manchester City’s school, he knows what it’s like to play for the first team.
Seeing Lewis put on great efforts over and over again must keep the decorated midfielder happily surprised.
Manchester City fans will want to see both of these young players on the field as much as possible this season.
For this campaign, Foden and Lewis could be a powerful pair to keep an eye on.
