Manchester City midfielder Phil Foden reveals the hidden conversation he had with his coach Pep Guardiola after winning the Premier League title
Guardiola welcomed City’s number 47 player and was very happy with his star player, who led his team to the league title against West Ham.
Foden talks about what Guardiola told him after he won the Premier League award.
After they won the Premier League for the sixth time, Pep Guardiola said that Phil Foden is now a senior player.
He told the Daily Mail, “It’s funny; I think the City manager sometimes thinks I’m still a little boy. It doesn’t bother me.” He told me, “You’re an adult now!” when I was on stage getting my winner’s badge.
“It’s great to have been on this ride with him and made so many great memories together.”
A possible sign of how Guardiola might feel about him next season
In May, Phil Foden won the Premier League. He told what Pep Guardiola said to him right after he wore his medal.
Phil Foden scored two goals in Manchester City’s 3-1 win over West Ham United, making him, along with Ilkay Gundogan, the only player in the club’s history to score on the last day of the Premier League season.
Since Phil Foden said that Pep Guardiola sometimes still sees him as a child, maybe just starting the season, that’s how he mostly saw the smooth technician.
But Foden proved to Guardiola and everyone else that he deserves to be called one of the best players in Europe.
A few times during the 2023–2024 season, the Englishman played both in the middle of the field when City had the ball and out wide when they were defending as a team.
But based on how Guardiola sees Foden as a “adult” now, he may want to build his Manchester City team around him, mostly using him as a number 10.
Pep Guardiola sees Phil Foden as one of his main men, which makes sense given how important he was to Chelsea’s success.
The 24-year-old has grown up at the Etihad Stadium, both as a player and as a leader. Next season, he may be given more authority.
