Manchester City moves to sign SV Werder Bremen 28-year-old footballer in this summer transfer window

There have been rumors that Manchester City is interested in acquiring a player from the Bundesliga for a substantial number of money during the summer transfer window.

throughout the summer transfer window, the Manchester club made a deal to acquire Josko Gvardiol from RB Leipzig. The transfer was reportedly cost 77 million pounds, and it took place throughout the summer.

Now that another summer transfer window is approaching, the Citizens have identified another player who is now creating a name for himself in Germany. They have the potential to make a move for this player over the next few weeks and months, but they could do it for a significantly lower price than they paid for Gvardiol.

The goalkeeper from the Bundesliga has been identified by City scouts for a summer transfer move.
Pep Guardiola has been informed by City’s scouts that Werder Bremen goalkeeper Michael Zetterer is a credible possibility for the Manchester club to buy this summer, as stated in a recent report from Bild (via Fussball Transfers). City’s scouts have been reportedly keeping an eye on Zetterer.

Despite the fact that the story also states that the goalkeeper has a release clause in his current contract, it does not explain what the amount of that clause is. Previous reports have stated that the German club values Zetterer at £5 million.

Since joining Bremen in the January transfer window of 2015, the 28-year-old player has completed loan stints with SK Austria Klagenfurt and a two-year loan stay with PEC Zwolle between 2019 and 2021. Both of these loan sessions were completed between 2019 and 2021.

Over the course of his 41 professional games with his current team, the German has managed to keep 10 clean sheets while allowing 59 goals to be scored against him.

This season, Zetterer has been quite impressive.

During the course of this season, Zetterer participated in 27 games in the Bundesliga. He faced 128 shots on target and made 92 saves, which resulted in him having the fourth-highest save percentage (74.2%) in the whole league.

In addition to that, the goalkeeper finished the season with the second-highest percentage of completed passes over 40 yards in the Bundesliga. He was successful in completing 145 of the 330 long passes that he attempted throughout the course of the season.

When all of this is taken into consideration, in addition to the fact that there are now some uncertainties around the futures of Ederson and Stefan Ortega, it is simple to understand why City has Zetterer on their radar in advance of the forthcoming summer transfer window.

Obtaining a contract for the Bremen star might be a smart move for the Citizens to do in the future, particularly if they find themselves in a position where they require the addition of a new goalkeeper to their roster for the upcoming season.
