Manchester City playmaker Kevin De Bruyne sends out an angry message concerning his retirement speculations
Kevin De Bruyne, a playmaker for Manchester City, wasn’t happy that his Belgium team lost to France in the Nations League on Monday night.
Kevin De Bruyne told his Belgium teammates to get smarter after they lost 2-0 to France on Monday night.
It was a bad night for the Manchester City player in Lyon, as France won thanks to goals from Randal Kolo Muani and Ousmane Dembele. De Bruyne scored two goals last week against Israel, but it wasn’t enough to help Belgium win their second game in a row.
After Belgium’s disappointing showing at Euro 2024, many of their so-called “Golden Generation” quit international football, leaving De Bruyne as captain and one of the last players from the group that made it to the World Cup 2018 semi-finals.
Because he is a senior, De Bruyne can tell his younger friends the truth. He did this after the game by saying, “I can’t say here what went wrong.” I did that to them already at halftime. That can’t be said again in public, but it needs to be better in every way.
You have to give your all if the goal we want to reach is the best and we’re not good enough to reach it now. It’s over if you don’t even do that.
“I understand that we’re not as good as we were in 2018.” I was the first person to notice that, but some other things are wrong. What? I’m not going to say. But there are too many of us in the back. There is no link if you stay with six in the back. Things are the way they are. But it’s not about change; it’s about people who don’t do their jobs.”
Even after his most recent outburst, De Bruyne said at the start of the international break that he is still loyal to Belgium and has no plans to stop playing for his country. He has played 108 times for the Red Devils and scored 30 goals.
De Bruyne said last Thursday, “I want to stay with the Red Devils, that’s why I’m here.” “I’m off to a good start this season.” The season is going to be rough. After a while, if it gets too much, I’ll say something to the boss.
It’s mostly that I’m looking ahead. After the European Championships, I was a little down, but only for a few days. The new season starts soon.
He did, however, hint at the benefits of leaving Belgium service in the summer, even though it’s not on his mind right now, and he has repeatedly criticized the schedule of international games.
“I haven’t thought about [his future abroad] yet.” “It might not be true, but it’s not a problem for me right now,” De Bruyne said in July. “I’m fine. I will still care about the national team as long as that is true.
“At City, we have seven to ten days off during international breaks.” That’s something my family would like. I don’t have 10 years left as a football player, though. I have also missed a lot of games with the national team.
“I’m telling you…” I should be available if I keep feeling good. Next year, I have no idea what it will be like. City has an even busier season coming up, with even more games. It has to be still possible mentally and physically.
