Manchester City reveals transfer stance of 31-year-old Brazilian soccer goalkeeper Ederson and Gianluigi Donnarumma

Manchester City has been linked with a move for Gianluigi Donnarumma as Ederson is rumoured to be leaving the club.

Gianluigi Donnarumma is a custodian for Paris Saint-Germain that Manchester City is interested in, but they would rather keep Ederson. There are plans to make it nine years that the Brazilian has been No. 1 at the club.

In the summer of 2017, Ederson almost went to the Saudi Pro League. However, he said that rumours of him leaving this year were “99 percent fake news” and that he wanted to stay at the Etihad. Pep Guardiola also plans to keep Ederson for the year. Two weeks ago, Manchester United signed James Trafford from Burnley with the goal of replacing Ederson when his deal ends next year. Trafford has already taken over as the starting left back.

If Ederson leaves, it looks like Tottenham will make a move for Donnarumma. City will reluctantly let him leave if they get the right offer, just like they did with Savinho when Tottenham was interested. But sources inside the club say that other teams are not interested in Ederson right now and would like to keep it that way.

The rumours make things even less clear for City as they get ready for the new season. Their first Premier League game is just days away at Wolves.

Last week, Guardiola said that he didn’t think any new players would arrive in the next few weeks of the transfer window. However, he did say that City would have to act because of the activity around Ederson.

In the first few weeks of the season, City is already having trouble in the middle of the pitch because Mateo Kovacic is hurt and Rodri isn’t fully fit. Phil Foden hurt his ankle too, so he couldn’t play in the friendly against Palermo.
