Manchester United are contemplating a surprise free agent transfer for a player who has appeared in nine games for Newcastle United. A former Newcastle United custodian is reportedly being considered for a summer transfer to Old Trafford.
A former Newcastle United custodian and a player who previously enjoyed a loan spell at Gateshead are reportedly being considered for a surprise summer transfer to Manchester United.
There is some ambiguity regarding the goalkeeping positions at Old Trafford, despite the fact that Andre Onana appears to have solidified his status as Ruben Amorim’s primary goalkeeper. Altay Bayindir, a Turkey international, was recruited by the former head coach of the Red Devils in the summer of 2023.
However, he has only appeared in seven matches thus far and has yet to make his Premier League debut. All of his appearances have been in the FA Cup, Carabao Cup, and Europa League. Tom Heaton, a seasoned third-choice custodian, has made only three appearances since signing a second contract at Old Trafford in 2021.
The most recent of these was in a Carabao Cup semi-final second leg match against Nottingham Forest in February 2023. Heaton is currently out of contract at the conclusion of the season and is expected to conclude his second tenure with the Red Devils.
