Manchester United coach role target Thomas Tuchel break silence and makes his transfer decision
Thomas Tuchel, the new manager of Bayern Munich, is said to be interested in either moving to the Premier League or taking a break this summer. It was announced last week that the 50-year-old would be leaving the Bundesliga giants. There had been rumors that club officials might change their minds about letting him go after failing to sign Xabi Alonso.
On Friday, Thomas Tuchel said that he would be leaving Bayern Munich this summer.
Last Sunday was Tuchel’s last day as manager of Bayern. He can now start looking for a new job elsewhere. Many people think he will move to Manchester United because Erik ten Hag’s job is in danger after leading the team to an eighth-place finish this season despite a record-high number of losses in the Premier League.
He has also been linked with a return to Chelsea, where he won the Champions League during his last job as manager in 2020/21. Todd Boehly fired him in September 2022, but it looks like the American made the wrong choice because he has hired three other managers since then.
Mauricio Pochettino, the current manager of the Blues, is also under fire after a season that wasn’t very consistent. And this month, Tuchel told reporters, “It’s no secret that I loved it at Chelsea.” This made it clear that he would be open to going back to the London club. It was a very, very special time for me in England and the Premier League.
Sky Germany says that United, Chelsea, or another Premier League team will have to make an offer for Tuchel to quickly return to managing. It is said that “loose talks” have begun between Tuchel’s representatives and those of the two teams.
In February, it was reported that Tuchel would be freed from his Bayern deal a year early. His original deal was supposed to last until 2025, but it was cut short. But after the club came so close to making it to the Champions League final and were only stopped by Real Madrid’s late comeback in the second leg of the semi-final, fans started a plea for him to stay.
But in his Friday morning press conference before the game, the former PSG manager said that talks with club executives did not lead to a peaceful solution. “Our deal from February is still in effect,” he said.
His last game finished on a bad note, as his team lost 4–2 at TSG Hoffenheim, even though they took a two-goal lead in the first six minutes. Because of this, Bayern fell to third place in the table, one spot behind Leverkusen and two behind Stuttgart.
As of the 2024–25 season, Bayern had not won the German title for the first time in 12 years. Even though Harry Kane has been there this season and scored 44 goals in 45 games for the club.
