Luke Shaw has articulated his profound disappointment following a recent injury setback, which will preclude his participation in the pivotal Premier League match against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday evening.
Shaw has recently resumed participation in competitive matches, having played in United’s 1-1 stalemate against Ipswich Town, as well as contributing to victories over Bodo/Glimt and Everton at Old Trafford.
Nonetheless, his most recent setback represents a significant disappointment for both the player and Manager Ruben Amorim, who is confronted with increasing challenges in anticipation of the upcoming journey to London.
On Tuesday evening, Shaw conveyed a poignant message via social media:
“Greetings, everyone. It is with considerable distress that I compose this, as I genuinely believed I had overcome my recent challenges and was progressing positively.
Regrettably, I have encountered a minor setback.” I have experienced numerous challenges and fluctuations throughout my life; however, this particular period has undoubtedly been the most arduous.
I am profoundly distressed, and it is exceedingly challenging to reconcile with the current reality at this juncture.
“I acknowledge that there will be individuals who experience frustration, anger, and disappointment; I fully comprehend these sentiments.”
At this moment, no one experiences this sentiment more profoundly than I do.
What I can assure you is that I will exert every effort to return promptly and enhance my contributions to assist this club in realising its aspirations for the current season.
Shaw’s absence contributes to an expanding array of challenges for Amorim, who will additionally be without Lisandro Martinez and Kobbie Mainoo for the upcoming match against Arsenal.
The pair received suspensions subsequent to being issued yellow cards during United’s 2-1 victory against Everton.
Main oo a caution for committing a charge on Dwight McNeil in proximity to the penalty area, while Martinez was admonished shortly thereafter for impeding a counterattack by restraining striker Beto.
Compounding the manager’s difficulties, captain Bruno Fernandes has emerged as a fitness concern following his substitution in the 65th minute of the match against Everton.
The Portuguese maestro, who provided two assists during the match, was observed applying ice to his ankle while on the sidelines.
