Viktor Gyokeres received a transfer boost from Manchester United as the striker reached a “gentleman’s agreement.
Viktor Gyokeres is expected to be acquired by Manchester United at a significantly reduced cost than was initially anticipated.
The Sporting striker has been in exceptional form since Ruben Amorim acquired him from Coventry City. In a mere 79 appearances for the Portuguese team, he has scored an impressive 74 goals.
It was inevitable that the Reds would be associated with the Sweden international, given United’s current difficulties with their centre-forward position and the close relationship between new manager Amorim and Gyokeres.
Nevertheless, the likelihood of a January transfer is low as a result of the Financial Fair Play restrictions that affect Old Trafford agreements. Sporting are also expected to resist the temptation to sell Gyokeres during the season, as it could potentially compromise their Champions League and title aspirations.
Consequently, it is more apparent that a summer transfer is a viable option for all parties.Gyokeres and Sporting have a gentleman’s agreement, as reported by Record Portugal.
The striker could depart for a fee of between £58.6m and £62.8m, which is significantly less than his £83m release clause, provided that he remains until the conclusion of the season.
