Marc Guehi was questioned regarding his future at Crystal Palace as Newcastle United continue to negotiate a deal.
Marc Guehi’s future has been the subject of unsurprising radio silence from Crystal Palace. However, a fortunate fan was able to inquire about his imminent future during a chance encounter on Friday.
In footage that was shared on social media, the query posed to the Newcastle United target, “Marc, are you staying?” Guehi turned his head before offering a shrug of the shoulders, a response that will do little to assuage the concerns of Palace supporters. The Chelsea academy graduate has been back in training with the club since Wednesday, following an extended hiatus following his summer exploits with England.
Palace rejected Newcastle’s subsequent offer for Guehi earlier this week. The Magpies are in a state of dire need to acquire the defender before the end of the month, but they have been unable to meet the exorbitant demand of £65m thus far.
Eddie Howe responded to reporters, “The transfer window is now picking up,” following Newcastle’s 4-0 victory over Girona, when asked about transfers. We are anticipating the addition of at least one member to the group. However, it is imperative that the focus be on quality rather than quantity.
Emil Krafth and Dan Burn were the preferred pairing for Howe during their facile victory over their Spanish opponents on Friday. Fabian Schar and Lloyd Kelly are anticipated to participate in the match against Brest on Saturday.
In the interim, Palace is in discussions with Maxence Lacroix, who has only one year remaining on his contract with Wolfsburg. Newcastle will likely receive a substantial advantage in their pursuit of Guehi if they are able to successfully acquire the 24-year-old.
