Martin O’Neill has issued a firm and honest message to Celtic supporters as he begins his latest spell in charge of the club.
With Celtic six points adrift of Hearts and level on points with Rangers, the league table underlines the scale of the task ahead. As the season reaches its halfway point, there is little margin for error.
O’Neill has returned at a time of uncertainty, with recent results and managerial upheaval testing belief across the club. Rather than offering reassurance, the manager has opted for clarity, acknowledging the difficulty of the challenge that lies ahead.
“We know that we’re in a fight. A big, big fight,” O’Neill said. “We’re going to try and win the league, but it won’t be easy.”
The manager stressed that the objective has remained the same since the start of the campaign, but circumstances have sharpened the challenge. Celtic must now chase from behind while fending off pressure from rivals.
O’Neill’s message was clear: the season is still alive, but it will require focus, effort and belief from everyone involved.
