“Massive setback for NUFC” As FA rules ban two of Newcastle United key players from featuring against Leeds United on saturday

Two of Newcastle United’s most important players will be absent for the team’s visit to Leeds United Saturday.

Alexander Isak is also unlikely to participate in the game due to his ongoing strike from playing at Newcastle, while Joelinton and Sandro Tonali are significant doubts.

The Magpies have begun the new Premier League season with two encouraging performances against Aston Villa and Liverpool. However, they have only accumulated one point and a potentially lengthy list of unavailable players.

The club has been unable to control the availability of two critical players, despite the fact that Joelinton, Tonali, and Isak have not yet been officially disqualified from the Leeds match.

Eddie Howe, Newcastle’s head coach, has announced that his team will be without Anthony Gordon and Fabian Schar for the match at Elland Road on Saturday at 5:30 p.m.

After Liverpool’s 3-2 victory on Monday, Howe conceded, “They are genuine injuries.” We would suffer a significant setback if [Joelinton, Tonali, and Schar] were to be substituted in the midst of the game.

“To be frank, Joey’s appearance is not particularly appealing, particularly given that the signal was issued so early when he descended.” Sandro’s appearance is once more unappealing.

“He desired to remain, but his performance was inadequate.” Anthony is suspended, and Fabian sustains a concussion.

Newcastle United’s duo will be prohibited from participating in the match against Leeds United due to FA regulations.
While Newcastle has the ability to administer fitness tests to determine the availability of players such as Joelinton and Tonali, they will not have the same benefit when it comes to Schar.

As Schar was removed from the game due to a suspected concussion, the club is now required to adhere to the concussion protocol established by the Football Association.

The FA regulations stipulate that the earliest return-to-play date for a player must be 12 days after the initial head injury, or seven days if exceptional criteria are met, if Schar is determined to have sustained a concussion, as mentioned by Howe.

Schar would be unable to travel to Leeds as a result of this, but he should be available for the match against Wolverhampton Wanderers following the international break, provided that he does not experience any extended symptoms.

Gordon is guaranteed to miss three games, whereas Schar could only miss one due to a direct red card issued after a VAR check on a challenge on Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk.

Newcastle will not appeal the red card, despite Gordon’s assertion that the foul was not intentional and his remorse to Van Dijk, his teammates, and the Newcastle fans.

The Premier League’s policy regarding serious foul play is as follows: “High + Full + Forceful contact on ankle or above is considered dangerous = Red card.”

In accordance with FA regulations, dismissals for severe foul play result in a three-match suspension. Consequently, Gordon will be unable to participate in the Leeds United, Wolves, and yet-to-be-confirmed Carabao Cup third round matches. However, he will be available for Newcastle’s Champions League group phase opener, as domestic suspensions do not transfer to European competitions.

Howe is left with a dearth of attacking options, as Gordon has served as a temporary striker in Newcastle’s first two games and Isak is also unavailable.

Will Osula scored against Liverpool after coming off the bench, but the club has yet to start him in a Premier League game. They are still actively searching for a striker in the final week of the transfer window.
