Matthijs de Ligt has signed with Manchester United from Bayern Munich. His initial remarks are as follows.
After the confirmation of his transfer from Bayern Munich to Manchester United, Matthijs de Ligt stated, “Erik ten Hag is capable of extracting the best performance from me.”
United announced the signing of De Ligt for €45m (£38.4m) on Tuesday night, with the possibility of an additional €5m (£4.2m) in add-ons. The defender has inked a five-year contract.
De Ligt previously collaborated with Ten Hag at Ajax, where he solidified his status as one of Europe’s most promising candidates. Subsequently, he has represented Juventus and Bayern Munich.
The 25-year-old is a critical defensive asset at Old Trafford and has the potential to make his Premier League debut against Fulham on the opening day of the season.
De Ligt expressed his enthusiasm for the prospect of a new challenge at a historic club upon learning that Manchester United was interested in him. He also acknowledged the impact of Ten Hag on his early career.

De Ligt signed for United from Bayern, and his colleague Noussair Mazraoui has also followed him to Manchester. United also confirmed the full-back’s transfer on Tuesday.
