“most important player” Chris Sutton reacts and responds back to comments made by Celtic F.C. coach Brendan Rodgers concerning Daizen Maeda transfer or contract extension

Celtic is dependent on Daizen Maeda.

Last season, the Japanese forward scored 31 goals for the Hoops in all competitions and was awarded the Player of the Year award by the club.

This is the reason why Chris Sutton believes that Celtic will be unable to accept an offer of £75 million for Maeda between the current date and the conclusion of the transfer window.

Maeda has been speculated to be considering a departure this summer; however, Celtic would be entitled to a substantial sum due to the fact that his contract is set to expire in 2027.

Sutton regarding Rodgers’ assertion regarding Maeda’s employment contract
Brendan Rodgers was questioned regarding Maeda’s contract and whether there are ongoing discussions regarding the possibility of extending it.

The Celtic manager has acknowledged that discussions have taken place and believes that Maeda will remain at Celtic beyond the September 1 deadline.

Rodgers, however, did not appear to be wholly convinced by that, according to Sutton.

In his Daily Record column, Sutton stated, “He is currently the most critical member of the squad, and as such, he must remain.” If there are alternatives within the next year, then that may be the appropriate time to negotiate. However, this is not the time.

“Celtic are already taking a risk with the Champions League due to their inability to secure attacking targets in this window.”

“Maeda’s departure would result in their complete collapse.” At a certain point, you must declare that enough is enough. Rodgers has observed his squad become increasingly depleted as star players depart.

“The manager dodged the Maeda question during his press conference prior to the Falkirk game; however, his assurance that he would remain at the club beyond the window was not entirely convincing.”

“Rodgers is currently being cautious, but he must be feeling extremely frustrated.”
