“much deserved,” American football wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown break silence and react to his Detriot Lions Teammate’s sudden retirement decision with a strong message

The 2025 season is going to be very exciting for the Detroit Lions. ESPN BET gives them the best odds (+135) to win the NFC North and the fifth-best odds (+900) to win the Super Bowl.

Without a question, they have one of the best teams in the NFL, but on Monday, they took a big hit when center Frank Ragnow announced on Instagram that he was retiring at the age of 29.

Some of his peers, like wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown, have been talking a lot about the news since then. St. Brown wrote, “much deserved,” followed by a heart emoji.

Ragnow also leaves with two years left on a five-year, $54 million deal he had with the Lions. He made $79 million in seven years in the NFL, though, so he probably won’t have any money problems in the future.

However, Ragnow will be missed by St. Brown and the rest of the Lions’ attack. In 2024, he made it to his fourth Pro Bowl and was named to the Second Team All-Pro for the third time.

Per Pro Football Focus, by the end of the year he had a total grade of 85.3, which put him third among 64 centers. His pass blocking grade was 63.6, which put him 36th among 64 centers, and his run blocking grade was 90.8, which put him third among 64 centers.

The Lions picked Ragnow with the 20th pick in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft. Even though he retired at such a young age, he lived up to the high standards that came with it.

Now it’s up to St. Brown and the rest of Detroit’s attack to keep doing well in 2025, even though they lost one of their best and most successful players.
