Names of the (4) four Arsenal top players nominated for Ballon d’Or award this year
The 30 players on the shortlist for this year’s Ballon d’Or award will be announced next month. Four Arsenal players are on the list.
Four Arsenal stars have been named for the Ballon d’Or, which is football’s highest individual honor. They all had great seasons with the Gunners.
Club leader Martin Ødegaard, Declan Rice, Bukayo Saka, and William Saliba are some of the 30 nominees for the award. The shortlist also includes Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius Junior, Rodri, and other world-class players.
The Norwegian playmaker had a great 2023–24 season, scoring 11 goals and setting up the same number. He was an important part of Arsenal’s Premier League title bid both on and off the field.
Rice quickly became the anchor of Arsenal’s midfield after moving there from West Ham United for £105 million (€125 million) last summer. He has since kept his status as one of the best midfielders in the world, which makes it no surprise that he was nominated for the Ballon d’Or.
Additionally, Saka continued to play amazing football on the wing, scoring 20 goals in 46 games across all categories and setting up 13 others.
The 22-year-old is a key member of the England national team, so his presence doesn’t come as much of a surprise. His hard work is once again being recognized.
The combination of Gabriel Magalhaes and Saliba in defense is very strong. This pair ruled the Premier League last season, when Arsenal kept the most clean sheets and gave up the fewest goals overall.
His Brazilian partner in defense was not nominated this time, but Saliba’s inclusion as a nominee proves beyond a question that he is one of the best defenders in the world.
Granit Xhaka, a former captain of Arsenal, has also been named. He had a great first season with Bayer Leverkusen, winning both the Bundesliga and the DFB Pokal, which was a huge accomplishment that beat Bayern Munich, who had been in first place for so long.
An event will be held in Paris on October 28, 2024, to reveal the Ballon d’Or winner.
