Despite the closure of the transfer window, the speculation regarding the potential next Celtic player remains unabated.

The possibility of recruiting Welsh international Ben Cabango, whose contract is set to expire at the conclusion of the season, was recently discussed.

In addition, we discussed three additional players: Sem Steijn, Luke Woolfenden, and Daniel Gazdag, who was previously linked to Celtic. All of these players are out of contract and could potentially not incur any expenses for the club.

However, in addition to Gazdag, there are three additional players who were previously associated with Celtic and are also out of contract next summer. In this article, we examine whether they could be viable alternatives for Brendan Rodgers to consider.

Eric Dier, a player for Bayern Munich

Eric Dier was associated with Celtic in August 2023, following his departure from Tottenham Hotspur due to an oversight by Ange Postecoglou.

Dier, who was previously one of Spurs’ best performers, was swiftly demoted to fifth in the pecking order as Postecoglou endeavored to instill his own identity in the London club’s roster.

Bayern Munich unexpectedly signed Dier on a six-month loan, and he was subsequently inked permanently for a one-year contract after achieving the minimum number of appearances.

Dier made 20 appearances for the Bundesliga team last season and has only appeared in one of the three matches this season.

Could the 49-time England international be a viable option for Celtic, given that his contract is set to expire next summer? I assume it would be contingent upon Dier’s willingness to relocate to Scotland at the age of 31 and the salary demands.

Andriy Lunin, a player for Real Madrid
Andriy Lunin was consistently associated with Celtic following Joe Hart’s announcement of his retirement from football in February of this year.

In reality, Lunin’s name was initially brought up in October of last year, when he was left in the elements at Real Madrid.

Nevertheless, the Ukrainian international was inserted into the La Liga giant’s starting lineup as a result of a long-term injury to Thibaut Courtois, the team’s number one. Lunin assisted in the team’s advancement to the Champions League final, but he was promptly benched when Courtois regained full fitness. Consequently, he was unable to play against Borussia Dortmund.

Lunin was reportedly expected to receive a new contract due to his exceptional performance; however, his current contract is scheduled to expire next summer.

Lunin, who is 25 years old, is eager to secure first-team football, as he has yet to play a single minute for Real Madrid this season.

Bright Osayi-Samuel by Fenerbache

Bright Osayi-In September 2020, Samuel was associated with Celtic; however, he ultimately elected to transfer to Fenerbache, a team in the Turkish Super Liga.

Formerly of Queens Park Rangers, the Nigerian international right-back has appeared in 144 matches over the course of four seasons with the Turkish heavyweights.

Osayi-Samuel has only won one domestic trophy, the Turkish Cup in 2023, and silverware has been an uncommon occurrence.

Regrettably, the 26-year-old is currently unavailable due to a muscle injury and was compelled to withdraw from the Nigerian international squad during this interim period.

Osayi-Samuel, who is primarily a right full-back, is a versatile player who has been employed as a defensive and attacking midfielder, as well as a centre-forward, on both sides of the attacking flanks in his career.

Osayi-Samuel is approaching the conclusion of his current contract. Is it possible that the prospect of more silverware and a chance to play in the Champions League will entice him to join the Scottish champions next summer?
