Newcastle United alerted to fresh transfer twist after Bournemouth fixture

Newcastle United host Bournemouth at St James’ Park in the FA Cup third round, with the Cherries still reeling from the departure of star winger Antoine Semenyo.

Just three days ago, Semenyo netted a stunning 95th-minute winner against Tottenham Hotspur, only to complete a £64million move to Manchester City yesterday.

Ahead of the tie, Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola praised Semenyo for the way he handled his exit. “I’ve been speaking with Antoine and encouraged him to leave the club properly if he was going to move,” Iraola said.

“He’s dealt with everything extremely well, and we wish him all the best.”

The Spaniard admitted the transfer saga had been unpredictable.

“Until the last day, nothing was fully agreed. Several clubs were involved, and while I expected him to leave, the situation wasn’t clear until the end,” he added.
