Newcastle United and Arsenal transfers are not permitted by the club’s chief executive in the wake of a contract dispute.

In recent times, Newcastle United and Arsenal have been reported to have admirers of Jonathan David, who has been linked with a transfer to the Premier League.David has begun the season in excellent form for Lille, netting 13 goals in just 19 appearances in the Champions League and Ligue 1.

Newcastle United and Arsenal are among the clubs that have expressed interest in the striker, as this form has reportedly garnered the attention of suitors in England.

David has been associated with a potential transfer to Tyneside in recent years and has been identified as a potential competitor for a starting position at St. James’ Park, alongside Alexander Isak.

If no extension is reached, the Canadian international will be eligible for a free transfer in the summer. He is currently in the final year of his contract with Lille. David has previously expressed his interest in relocating to England, stating in March,

“My future? Concentrated on the return of this exceptional institution to Europe, where it belongs. The remainder will be forthcoming. What is the Premier League? Why not participate in one of the most prestigious competitions in the world?

Nevertheless, Lille president Oliver Letang’s most recent statements have quashed speculation regarding David’s prospective January departure. Jonathan David will not depart in January, Letang stated during his appearance on the After Foot show. And he has already received an extension offer, so the decision is entirely in his hands. Newcastle United has experienced two relatively unremarkable transfer windows. In January, they did not make any acquisitions, and in the summer, they only added two senior outfield players to their roster. New Year’s Day marks the opening of the 2025 winter window.
