Newcastle United and West Ham are in a tug-of-war to secure the 27-year-old France international on a January loan.

A 27-time France international is the subject of a competitive bidding war between Newcastle United and West Ham United for a January loan.

Two years ago, the 25-year-old striker delivered an enormously impressive performance for France in the World Cup final.

In January, West Ham and Newcastle United have joined the competition to acquire the highly regarded French international striker Randal Kolo Muani from Paris Saint Germain.

Football Transfers has learned that the French champions are amenable to approving a loan transfer for the 25-year-old forward, whom they acquired for an extravagant £76.4m fee just 18 months ago.

During the 2020/21 season, Kolo Muani, who was a product of the Nantes development academy, gained recognition for his contributions to the team’s safety. He scored nine goals in 32 matches, including the game-winning goal in a relegation play-off against Toulouse of Ligue 2.

He scored an additional 13 goals in 41 appearances across all competitions the following year and was a key member of the squad that captured the French Cup for the first time in 22 years.

Eintracht Frankfurt, the holders of the Europa League, acquired the striker on a free transfer in response to this performance.

The striker was an immediate success at Deutsche Bank Park, scoring 23 goals in 46 appearances and assisting the team in reaching the knockout stages of the Champions League for the first time.

He was the third highest goalscorer and second highest assist maker in the league, with a total of 15 goals and 11 assists. This rapidly established him as a significant asset at the international team level.

Midway through his final season at Eintracht Frankfurt, Kolo Muani also participated in a breakthrough World Cup tournament for France and was a member of the team that advanced to the World Cup final.

The forward made history by becoming the third fastest substitute to score at a World Cup when he scored against Morocco in the semi-final, after coming off the bench.

He also played a significant role in the final against Argentina from the substitutes bench and assisted one of Kylian Mbappe’s goals in an exhilarating 3-3 draw that ultimately resulted in Argentina’s victory on penalties.

The third most expensive departure in Bundesliga history, Kolo Muani’s performance resulted in a spectacular £76.4m transfer to Paris Saint Germain.

Nevertheless, the 25-year-old has encountered significant difficulty in establishing himself as a consistent fixture in the French capital. During his initial season in the capital, he made 44 appearances and scored 12 goals and four assists.

However, the majority of his appearances were from the substitutes bench, where he was a secondary player to Kylian Mbappe and Goncalo Ramos. Publicity

After Mbappe’s exit and Ramos’ injury issues, it was expected that Kolo Muani would shine in his second season, but he remains a bit-part player under Luis Enrique and is not thought to be part of the Spaniard’s long-term plans.

Over the course of this campaign, he has made just 12 appearances and just two starts across all competitions and has scored two goals, with Marcos Asensio often playing as a false nine ahead of him.

Football Transfers claims that Kolo Muani does not fit Enrique’s style of play, fuelling reports that Premier League side’s Newcastle and West Ham could look to loan the player, with a potential option to buy in the summer.
