If you want to know how Newcastle United will act in the summer transfer market, Eddie Howe has given you a big hint.

Eddie Howe has given away a big clue about how Newcastle United will handle the summer transfer window, even though the Premier League has put financial limits on them. While the Magpies will have money to spend this summer, they will have to be smart about how they spend it in order to improve their team and still follow the PSR rules.

What will make the difference for Newcastle in the next window is how well they can add players to their roster without selling too many of their present players. The club needs to find the right balance here, and Howe was asked how he thinks Newcastle United can make progress in the transfer market with the money they have now.

Howe told Gary Neville on the Overlap show, “The only way I know for us to get to the next level at Newcastle is through smart recruitment.” We will either win or fail there in the end. When I say “smart,” I mean that we need to get players for less than what they’re worth on the market and before they’ve become well-known and developed.

“Because of the rules, I don’t see another way to do it.” Also, we need to keep the great players we already have who are making a difference and are still getting better. It will be hard, but I think it’s possible.

Last summer, the Magpies sold Allan Saint-Maximin to get money to spend on signing Sandro Tonali, Harvey Barnes, and Tino Livramento to long-term deals. When asked about his choice to sell the Frenchman, Howe said, “I loved working with him. I didn’t want to lose the winger, but I had to do it because of money.” What Howe said.

“That was Money Fair Play hitting us, so we had to let go of Maxi right now.” It seemed like it was time for him to leave too. Then, of course, you have to replace a player who made a big difference, and you can’t just get another Allan Saint-Maximin. You have to choose someone else.
