Newcastle United was shocked when they fell behind to a poor goal on four minutes against Sheffield United. But they came back strong after the break.
Newcastle United beat Sheffield United 5-1 to keep their hopes alive of making it to Europe for a second straight season.
As early as the fourth minute, Anel Ahmedhodzic scored a goal from the Gallowgate End. Newcastle was behind. But in the 26th minute, Alexander Isak scored an equalizer after Jacob Murphy made a great pass down the right flank. He finished easily from an angle to make the score 1-1.
Other chances came and went for Sheff United. Ben Brereton-Diaz and Andre Brooks both had chances but were stopped by a Dan Burn clearance and the post twice. Before the break, United was ahead thanks to Bruno Guimaraes. Then, just after the hour, Isak scored a penalty to make it 3-1.
Both Ben Osborn’s own goal and Callum Wilson’s goal from the bench sealed the win.
