Howe said, “I believe in the players we sign and what they can do in the long run.” This season has already been tough for Kieran Trippier and the other players in those places, so we knew we had to put some money into other players in the hopes that they would step up and really compete for those spots.
“They are two very good players and wonderful artists.” So we are very happy.”
It was also great for Howe to see Joelinton and Miguel Almiron play again at Turf Moor. They came on late in the big win in Lancashire. He said: “It’s massive for us and that’s something that has really hurt us during the season (having the duo absent).”To be ready with that quality and eager to play.
“I also need to take care of those two players. I need to make the right choices and add them at the right times to make sure they have enough to do.”
“There is no question about their skill or the effect they have on the team. They were there, and I think that helped the mood before the game. The group got a lot stronger.
Before the home game against Brighton & Hove Albion, Howe will now look at both players during their recovery practices. Howe said, “It depends on the game, but my plan was to maybe give them 15, 20 minutes today for the two outfield players.” There was no plan to add to their minutes. They were ready for the next level, and we’ll see how they train this week.
