Newcastle United F.C. confirms the name of the two players leaving St James’ Park this summer transfer window
Newcastle has announced that Paul Dummett and Matt Ritchie will leave the club at the end of June, when their contracts are up.
The two players have been with the Magpies for a long time and have played in 428 competitive games together. Dummett has been with the club the longest, having joined the school 23 years ago.
Newcastle also said that goalie Loris Karius, midfielder Jeff Hendrick, and defender Kell Watts will be leaving the club soon.
Eddie Howe, the manager of Newcastle, said, “It’s easy to judge players by how many games they play and how many goals they score, but Paul and Matt have made an immeasurable contribution to the club over many years.”
Dummett has played 215 times for the Magpies in all competitions since his first game with the first team in 2013. He came on as a replacement five times in the Premier League this season.
“They have made a huge difference in how far we’ve come as a club and as a team.” They’ve been great to work with and great people.
“Their dedication, competence and management in the dressing room during my tenure here has been first class, and they are going to take undoubted superiority and expertise to their next clubs.”
Ritchie has played 215 times and scored 25 goals since being signed from Bournemouth in 2016.
The Scotland player came off the bench 13 times in the Premier League this season and scored Newcastle’s last goal in February against Bournemouth, which led to a 2-2 draw for Howe’s team.
