Alexander Isak, a striker for Newcastle United, is the talk of the town and is in the running to become the top scorer in the Premier League.

Before leaving the field, not many Newcastle United forwards would be unhappy after scoring 23 goals so far this season, with four games to go.

But Alexander Isak couldn’t shake a feeling as he walked down the tunnel after the 5-1 win over Sheffield United. His name is constantly being mentioned with Arsenal and Barcelona, but that wasn’t the problem. It was just that he didn’t have the ball in his hand.

“I thought I want a hat-trick,” Isak said after the game. I still haven’t had one! I have spent a lot of time in jail here at home. I tried to calm down and pay attention to what was going on. It’s still living, though. We need to pay attention to ourselves first, and then we’ll see how things go.

Isak has scored 23 goals for Newcastle this season, the same number of goals as Dwight Gayle scored in the 2016–17 season, though that was in the Sky Bet Championship. Alan Shearer scored 22 goals in the 2003–04 season, which Isak has now surpassed.

But when it comes to numbers, Isak’s current score with four games left is as good as Shearer’s 23 from 2001/02 and 1999/2000, and only two short of Big Al’s 25 from 1996/97. He could claim that as an honor with four games left.

Many people have called Isak the best Newcastle player since Shearer. He still has a long way to go (until 206!) but he has scored 33 goals for the Magpies so far. With 19 goals, Isak has scored the most goals in the Premier League since Shearer in 2003/04. He is on the right track.

With his two goals against Sheff United, Isak now has 29 goals in the Premier League. He is tied with Demba Ba and Gary Speed in his second season, but over the weekend he easily beat Craig Bellamy (27) and Obafemi Martins (28).

Isak’s double helped lead the team to a 5-1 win, which made Eddie Howe very happy after the game. Howe said, “I think we should just enjoy the way he’s making plays right now.” He’s full of confidence and looks great physically. It’s fun to watch him play right now.

Erling Haaland has scored more goals than Isak in the Premier League, but Isak is only one goal behind him.
