Will Osula played his first game for Newcastle United over the weekend, when the Magpies beat Stade Brestois to keep the Sela Cup.

On Thursday morning, the 21-year-old’s move from Sheffield United was official. He was put right into the action at St. James’ Park on Saturday, when the Magpies finished their pre-season. During that game, Osula played well, and he came close to scoring his first goal for Blackburn Rovers in the first half, but an assistant’s late flag stopped him.

Newcastle United will pay the Blades a total of about £15 million for the Danish Under-21 international. Osula will likely play behind Alexander Isak and Callum Wilson for the next season on Tyneside. Osula is a quick and strong player who can also play out wide if needed. He told the Gazette what he thinks his skills are and what Newcastle United fans can expect from him while he is there.

Osula said, “I like to run behind, set goals for myself and my team, and work hard for the team.” You can find me anywhere in the front three if you need me to. I will play left wing, right wing, scorer, or anywhere else the coach wants me to.

“The coach and the manager can only help me get better here.” I also know Jason Tindall from when he played for Sheffield United. A great teacher.

Newcastle United and Osula’s first game in the Premier League will be on Saturday against Southampton. The Magpies are looking to make it three straight opening day wins after beating Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa the previous two years.
