Newcastle United has issued a double injury update regarding Anthony Gordon and Joe Willock. Eddie Howe has acknowledged that Anthony Gordon is a significant question mark for the upcoming match against Manchester United at St James’ Park.
Additionally, Joe Willock may be absent against the Red Devils. The Scouser was unable to attend the match at the King Power Stadium due to a hip injury he sustained during England’s 2-0 victory over Albania in the World Cup qualifiers. According to Eddie Howe, Gordon was eligible to participate in the match against Leicester City after serving a three-match suspension; however, he has yet to participate in any practice.
When asked about Gordon’s availability for the Sunday afternoon match against Manchester United, Howe stated, “Anthony was not close to being available to face Leicester.” He has not yet had the opportunity to train with us. He has gained more confidence, and it was crucial that he scored tonight, as he is a goalscorer and must contribute in this manner, given his status as an attacking player.
“He also contributed to the first goal, which I particularly enjoyed, by making a well-judged decision.” He has established a positive rapport with Tino (Livramento) by his side, and I was extremely satisfied with that aspect of the pitch. I also believed that he defended well, and that is an attribute that should never be overlooked.
