Newcastle United aims to augment their roster with an additional top player, contingent upon the resolution of their financial challenges.

Following the Public Investment Fund’s acquisition in 2021, Newcastle United has experienced notable success in its recruitment efforts, resulting in the inclusion of prominent players such as Sandro Tonali, Bruno Guimarães, Alexander Isak, and Anthony Gordon, who now constitute a central group of star athletes.

Regrettably, the Profit and Sustainability Regulations have hindered Newcastle’s growth and expenditure; however, the financial constraints are expected to be alleviated soon, allowing sporting director Paul Mitchell to enhance Eddie Howe’s squad.

Newcastle’s foremost priority is the acquisition of a right wingback, and it is anticipated that Howe will seek to secure one within this month. Nonetheless, there exists the possibility that the club may opt to defer their acquisition until the summer, when they will have the financial capacity to invest in a well-established Premier League player.

Bryan Mbeumo is Newcastle’s “dream” target, but there are two other top-flight wingers that Newcastle have their sights on. Newcastle has identified Antoine Semenyo and Anthony Elanga as prospective targets.

Newcastle, and Nottingham Forest may consider selling Elanga for a substantial offer in 2025 to alleviate their concerns regarding Profit and Sustainability Regulations (PSR). As reported by The Sun, Newcastle is prepared to compete with Liverpool for the acquisition of Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo, in addition to Anthony Elanga.

The two Premier League athletes, who are inherently positioned as right-wingers, are regarded by Newcastle as a potential acquisition of a “future star.” Semenyo is similarly appraised at £50 million by Bournemouth.

A transfer for Semenyo in January appears improbable; however, should he remain at the Vitality Stadium by the summer, Newcastle may consider entering the competition for his acquisition.

The report indicates a preference for either Elanga or Semenyo; thus, it remains to be determined which player they will ultimately pursue. Newcastle United faces the potential danger of becoming ‘stale’ in the absence of new signings. Mitchell and Howe are confronted with a challenging predicament this month.

Should Newcastle conclude the month of January without securing any significant acquisitions, it would indicate that the club is poised to possess a substantial budget for expenditure during the summer, when a greater array of potential targets will be accessible.
