Newcastle United is discussing the possibility of hiring an ex-Arsenal executive.
A report indicates that Newcastle United is contemplating the appointment of Vinai Venkatesham, the former chief executive of Arsenal, to the same position at their club. According to Craig Hope of the Daily Mail, Newcastle United is currently in the process of recruiting a new chief executive. Vinai
Venkatesham, a former Arsenal player, is one of the candidates under consideration.Newcastle is currently in search of a successor for Darren Eales, who was diagnosed with blood cancer in September.
Although Eales is currently employed by the club, he will retire upon the appointment of a successor. Venkatesham’s departure from Arsenal has occurred at an opportune moment, rendering him a possibility for Newcastle.
However, it is reported that he is merely one name in a comprehensive recruitment process.
Arsenal elected to replace Venkatesham through an internal promotion, with Richard Garlick, the former director of football operations, assuming the role of managing director.
Arsenal co-chair Josh Kroenke confirmed that Garlick would be leading the club’s executive team, despite the fact that the position description was slightly different. Venkatesham was highly esteemed during his tenure at Arsenal and was even awarded an OBE in the 2024 New Year’s Honours List.
Newcastle would undoubtedly make a solid hire if they are able to persuade him to join the club.
