Nick Woltemade, Newcastle United’s most recent acquisition, has delivered an emotional departure message to his former team.
Last week, Woltemade concluded a £65 million club-record transfer from VfB Stuttgart to Newcastle.
The 23-year-old had joined the Bundesliga team on a free transfer one year prior. However, Woltemade’s value skyrocketed as he was pursued by some of Europe’s most prestigious clubs after netting 17 goals in all competitions for Stuttgart, winning the DFB-Pokal, and earning the golden boot in the Under-21s European Championships.
Newcastle had already reached an agreement with Stuttgart by the time news of the transfer reached the media, which is a departure from the majority of transfers this summer. Consequently, it appeared to occur at a rapid pace, as Woltemade had already moved to Tyneside by the time the news of his departure was announced.
Woltemade utilized Instagram to distribute a video message to Stuttgart supporters on the day of the deadline.
Translated from German, he stated, “Hello, my dear VfB fans. It was imperative that I bid you farewell once more.”
“I believe that there was a great deal that transpired in the past few days, which is why I required an additional few days to discover the appropriate words.” I am only able to express my gratitude. I am grateful for the past year, for the memory-making moments we shared and the experiences we shared.
“I do not require you to adhere to my instructions.” I believe that my objective as a football player is to attain the highest conceivable level. I compete in the Champions competition and Newcastle, the most prestigious competition in the world, and I am eager to take this next step.
“I can comprehend the sentiment of any VfB fan who asserts that you have consistently declared yourself to be a Stuttgart supporter.” I remain an avid Stuttgart supporter and will continue to attend each and every game, provided that it is feasible.
“However, I am also a sportsman, and that is my occupation.” I have made a conscious decision to proceed with the next stage, and I am eagerly anticipating the challenge.
“However, I simply wanted to express my gratitude and reflect on the wonderful year we shared.” Overall, it was an exceptional year for me, and I am extremely appreciative of Stuttgart’s support in enabling me to resume my athletic career.
“I achieved my first significant title with you, and I also won a title for Stuttgart after a long period of time.” In addition to all the other exquisite moments, I believe that is something that will always be etched in my memory.
“However, I am also of the opinion that the VfB fans will forever be etched in my memory. I am honored to have been present and to have had the opportunity to participate in such an event.”
“It was crucial to me to bid farewell, and I will do so here.” Therefore, I would like to extend my gratitude to VfB, as well as to all of the employees, instructors, and the entire team. I am grateful for the enjoyable experience.
Alexander Isak, please take heed.
After securing a summer transfer to Liverpool, will Alexander Isak convey a comparable message? Given the unsavory circumstances surrounding his departure from Newcastle, it is difficult to fathom.
The 25-year-old, like Woltemade, has made a club-record transfer after assisting a club in ending a lengthy trophy drought.
However, Isak’s legacy on Tyneside has been tarnished as a result of his refusal to perform for The Magpies in an attempt to compel a transfer. His reputation cannot be salvaged by any Instagram farewell message.
Woltemade has returned to Germany for international duty after a brief period of time.
