Fabian Schar will miss the next three Newcastle United games because he got a straight red card for being violent.

Around the middle of the first half at St. James’ Park, Southampton striker Ben Brereton-Diaz hit the 32-year-old. The Chilean player shoved the defender to the ground as he tried to pass the ball back to Nick Pope. The defender then jumped up and hit the forward in the head, knocking him out.

They got off to a slow start, and the Magpies were almost behind when Dale Stephens scored, but the goal was ruled out by video review officials. But they made sure that their lack of players didn’t hurt them by breaking the tie with Joelinton right before halftime.

With ease, the Brazilian scored after Saints goalie Alex McCarthy carelessly passed the ball to Alexander Isak, who then found the midfielder on the penalty spot. Isak made no mistake in taking advantage of McCarthy’s mistake.

Newcastle led 1-0 at halftime, but the choice made by Schar was what everyone was talking about. Because he was aggressive, the defender will miss the next three games.

The first two games are away games against AFC Bournemouth and Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup. The third game is against Tottenham Hotspur, a rival team in Europe.

Premier League Match Center wrote about the ruling, “The referee gave Schär a red card for violent behavior.” VAR looked into it and agreed with the referee’s call.

Howe is likely to have more problems on defense after the defender’s bad behavior, which will keep him out of the next games. Emil Krafth moved into the back line, but Newcastle’s manager doesn’t have many choices because of injuries to players like Jamal Lascelles and Sven Botman that will keep them out for a long time.

City and Crystal Palace have already been talking about how to sign Marc Guehi, but the Magpies have not yet made a firm offer. On Friday, a fourth offer worth more than £70 million was turned down for the 24-year-old player.
