Newcastle United player ratings vs Fulham as match ends with victory for Newcastle FC, Bruno Guimarães scoring the winning goal
In the 81st minute, Bruno Guimaraes scored the game-winning goal, allowing Newcastle United to win both of their Premier League matches against Fulham.
After Everton’s 1-1 draw at home on Tuesday, Eddie Howe made two substitutions in the team’s lineup. Harvey Barnes was replaced in the starting eleven by Anthony Gordon, who had returned from his suspension. Joe Willock was selected over Elliot Anderson as the primary running back.
As a result of a lacklustre first half, the Magpies were relieved to find themselves without a goal at the break. The fact that Willock departed from the game in the forty-first minute added to their frustrations, as it brought the total number of players on the club’s injury list to twelve.
The game became more close in the second half, and Fabian Schar believed that he had put Newcastle ahead in the 75th minute when he scored off a cross from Anthony Gordon. Unfortunately, the game was tied. However, the video assistant referee (VAR) stepped in and pointed out that Dan Burn had committed a foul on Calvin Bassey, which resulted in the goal being disallowed.
However, exactly six minutes later, the Magpies were able to grab the lead. Barnes’s substitute had a delivery that was cleared only as far as Bruno Guimaraes, who powered home from the edge of the box. Barnes’s delivery was cleared.
With this triumph, United have won their sixth consecutive meeting over Fulham, extending their unbeaten streak over the club to ten matches.
