Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak official injury update ahead of thier match against Everton
There has been an official update released by Eddie Howe regarding the health of Alexander Isak in advance of Newcastle United’s final match of the season, which will take place on Sunday against Everton.
Because of a minor groin ailment that has flared up on a few occasions over the season, Isak was unable to play for Newcastle in their most recent match, which was a loss to Arsenal by a score of 1-0.
Over the course of this season, the 25-year-old player has scored 27 goals for Newcastle in all competitions, which is 18 goals more than any other player in the club.
Additionally, in each of the four Premier League matches that Isak has missed this season, Newcastle has failed to win or score from open play in any of those matches.
Despite the fact that they are currently in fourth place in the table, the Magpies are looking to win their match against Everton on Sunday in order to ensure that they will qualify for the Champions League. Anything less than a victory would force Howe’s team to rely on the outcomes of other matches in order to qualify for the tournament.
The following is what Howe had to say in response to a question about Isak at his pre-match press conference: “He’s doing okay. Although he has not yet trained with us, he has made significant development throughout the course of the week.
There will be a significant impact on his availability during the following few of days. Although there is a possibility, it is difficult to provide any more information than that. There is no way for us to know how he will react or whether he will be available for the game unless he begins training with us beforehand.
The matter will be postponed until tomorrow. This week, he has been working out on his own and simply increasing the amount of weight he is lifting. There is a significant distinction between sprinting and playing with a ball at your feet, although he is engaging in the latter activity.
What he has been asked to accomplish up to this point, he has done without any discomfort and he has done it very well. This means that the following two days will be of the utmost importance.
The latest injury news for Newcastle United
In addition to Isak, right-back Kieran Trippier is also a potential absence for Newcastle due to a calf injury that has prevented him from playing in the previous two away matches.
Howe continued by saying, “Kieran has not yet trained with us, but he will have the opportunity to build up his load throughout the next couple of days.” Our decision will be based on his availability.
This week, Matt Targett has resumed his training after Howe had earlier determined that he would not be able to join the team for the duration of the season. A knee injury has caused Joelinton to miss the last four matches, therefore he will not be returning to the team. However, he will not be returning.
The next thing that Howe said was, “No, Joelinton will not be returning; he has received another injection in his knee.” Because he is making such good progress, we anticipate that he will be able to return to the preseason without any issues.
As a result of a foot ailment, Lewis Hall has been sidelined since February. Additionally, a preseason comeback date has been established for him. Beginning on July 7, Newcastle will make their comeback to preseason play, which will be followed by excursions to Celtic Park, Singapore, and Seoul.
