Newcastle United suffered a double injury setback; Crystal Palace’s £65 million duo is uncertain, and a critical player is expected to return.
Newcastle United has been confronted with a double injury concern as a result of their 2-0 loss to West Ham United at St James’ Park on Monday night.
Newcastle was defeated at home and lost two players to injury during the match, despite the fact that Callum Wilson and Kieran Trippier returned from prolonged periods of inactivity.
Joe Willock was substituted at halftime due to a confrontation with Sean Longstaff in the first half, while Bruno Guimaraes was substituted in the latter phases due to a glute issue.
West Ham secured three points on Tyneside by scoring goals in each half from Tomas Soucek and Aaron Wan-Bissaka, ending the Magpies’ three-game winning streak.
Eddie Howe confirmed the two injury concerns following the match, with Guimaraes and Willock scheduled for additional evaluations prior to the team’s Saturday travel to Crystal Palace (3 p.m. kick-off).
“Howe stated that Joe was not feeling at his best at halftime due to a minor injury to a portion of his leg.”
“I believe Bruno experienced a glute, but I am optimistic that they are not significant issues.” Howe further elaborated, “It is an art to ensure that the team is in the appropriate physical and mental state to compete.”
We eagerly anticipate the forthcoming period of intensive activity. It is imperative that we maintain the squad’s health to the best of our ability; however, the two players tonight are a cause for concern. We will observe our appearance.
Newcastle will welcome back Dan Burn after serving a suspension at Crystal Palace. Meanwhile, Sven Botman is on the brink of returning to the team after a protracted absence due to an ACL injury.
