Newcastle United
Newcastle United supporters’ reaction to my rejection as a player was unexpected.
I was taken aback by the Newcastle United supporters’ response to my dismissal from the team.Sandro Tonali will be joining the Italy squad following a successful few weeks at Newcastle United.
In the Carabao Cup, Tonali assisted Alexander Isak in a 2-0 victory over Chelsea, and in the Premier League, he provided an assist to Harvey Barnes in a 3-1 victory over Nottingham Forest on Sunday.
In total, Tonali has scored two assists in three games for Newcastle. The Italian also contributed to Joelinton’s goal at the City Ground within three minutes of coming off the bench.Although Tonali has not been the starting player in Newcastle’s most recent two Premier League matches, he has continued to have a positive influence, even when he is substituted.
Since his return from a 10-month suspension on betting in September, the 24-year-old has been a consistent member of the Italy squad.
Since that time, he has participated in each match for both his club and his country. However, he will have to compete for a spot in Newcastle’s starting lineup after the international break. This month, Italy will compete in the Nations League against Belgium and France.
Tonali discussed his return to the pitch with Sky Italia prior to the international break, following an extended period of inactivity.
“I am content both on and off the pitch, despite the fact that numerous aspects of my life have undergone changes,” he stated. “My interactions with others have also evolved; this transcends football and has had a significant impact.
“”I was aware that it would be challenging to play as much as possible before returning, but my objective was to play as much as possible.
” As of now, I have achieved this objective in the most effective manner possible, including with the national team, which was another significant objective of mine. “However, my objective remains unchanged: to perform at my highest level in order to secure a victory at Newcastle.
” We are currently in the quarterfinals of the [Carabao] Cup, and our objective is to secure the title. We were unsuccessful last year; however, this remains our primary objective.
is a beloved figure among Newcastle’s supporters, who chanted his name from the stands during his suspension, despite his limited appearances and off-field struggles since his £52 million transfer from AC Milan in 2023.
“I am grateful to the Newcastle fans for their unexpected behaviour during the disqualification; they do not make any judgements,” Tonali said.
“I did not hear any judgements during the matches at the stadium; in fact, they shook my hand, which surprised me because I was not anticipating it.”
