Newcastle United’s player receives a substantial boost and may be present against West Ham.
After a seven-month absence, Newcastle United’s player obtains a significant boost that could potentially include v West Ham UnitedLewis Miley, a midfielder for Newcastle United, was “proud” to make his complete England Under-21s debut on Monday night.
Miley’s eight-month wait for a competitive debut was finally concluded, as she had encountered numerous injury complications throughout 2024.
However, Miley was selected for the England Under-21s squad after regaining full fitness at Newcastle and playing off the substitute in the 2-0 Carabao Cup victory over Chelsea last month. On Friday, the 18-year-old made his Under-21s debut by coming on as a second-half substitute in the 0-0 draw against Spain.
He then started the 1-1 draw with the Netherlands on Monday night. Dane Scarlett’s opening goal was cancelled out by Thom van Bergen in the final minutes of the game, during which Miley played 57 minutes for the Young Lions.
Miley will return to Newcastle in anticipation of the Premier League match against West Ham United at St James’ Park on Monday at 8 p.m.
However, the midfielder is up against formidable competition in his pursuit of regaining a place in Newcastle’s midfield, having appeared in 26 matches for the club during the previous season.
Miley’s injury absence has resulted in his descent down the pecking order, as Sandro Tonali has returned from a suspension and Joe Willock and Joelinton have recovered from injuries.
However, Eddie Howe, the head coach of the Magpies, continues to hold him in the highest regard. Following Miley’s return last month, Howe declared, “He is an exceptional player.” “He has demonstrated this by returning to training.”
“You would anticipate that he would exhibit some technical rustiness or that he would still need to develop physically, but I believe that he has returned to the field with a newfound physicality.”
“He appears to have utilised his time away from the training pitch effectively, as he is more solid and fills out as he ages.”
