Newcastle United’s training ground update included a significant injury concern for Bruno
.Eddie Howe’s team will be concerned about the fitness of one of their main players as they prepare to face Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Saturday.
Bruno Guimaraes exited the St James’ Park pitch prematurely on Monday night, proceeding directly down the tunnel after being replaced by Kieran Trippier.
After the contest, it was disclosed that Guimaraes had sustained a gluteal injury, which Howe had expressed optimism would not be severe. “I believe Bruno experienced a glute, but I am optimistic that they are not significant issues.”
Post-match, Howe acknowledged. In the summer, Guimaraes was promoted to team captain, underscoring his significance to the Newcastle United team.
However, Newcastle has yet to secure a victory in the Premier League when he is not in the starting lineup, a streak that has persisted since his début in February 2022.
Joe Willock was also substituted early in the defeat against West Ham, being replaced at halftime after sustaining a leg injury.
Immediately following the conclusion of the Monday night match, both players were classified as “doubtful” for the upcoming match against Palace on Saturday. However, the club issued an update on Wednesday that offered a different perspective on their respective recoveries.
Willock was depicted in training with Newcastle United in a portfolio of training photos that were released. Nevertheless, Guimaraes was not.
Although these images do not necessarily suggest that a player such as Guimaraes will be unable to participate on Saturday, they do suggest that the club is being cautious regarding his injury and any potential additional setbacks.
