Newly signed Newcastle United player Lloyd Kelly delivers his first words strong message after he has completed his move to St James’ Park
It has been announced by Newcastle United that Lloyd Kelly has moved to St. James’ Park. Kelly’s current deal at Bournemouth ends on July 1, which is when the deal becomes official. The free agent is thought to have signed a five-year deal at St. James’ Park.
Yesterday, the back finished his medical in London and became Newcastle’s first summer signing. The club is looking forward to a busy couple of months, which will begin tomorrow with the opening of the transfer window.
In a release, United said, “Newcastle United is thrilled to announce that defender Lloyd Kelly will join the team on July 1, 2024.”
The 25-year-old will move to St. James’ Park before the 2024–25 season. He has been at AFC Bournemouth for five years, where Eddie Howe, the head coach of Newcastle United, brought him in.
Lloyd Kelly has been signed by Newcastle United after his contract with Bournemouth ended.
“After signing a long-term deal, Kelly is the first player the club has brought in this summer. He will wear the number 25 shirt.” The former England Under-21 player can play in the middle of defense or on the left side. He played 23 times in the Premier League last season, helping the Cherries finish in 12th place.
When Kelly signed, he said, “It’s amazing to be coming here.” I know how important the club is to all the people and how big it is. I just want to get to work right away.
“My family and I are making a big move. Living in the south is different, but I think Newcastle is a great city because it has both city life and country life.” Coming here wasn’t a hard choice for me. I’ve worked with the manager before, so I know what he wants from his players and how he wants them to play. I think what I can bring to the table makes it a good fit. It makes me excited to start.
Lloyd has already played a lot in the Premier League, but he’s still young enough to learn and grow. I’m excited to work with him again because I see a lot of promise in him.
Head coach Eddie Howe said, “I’m really happy to have got Lloyd to sign.” He’s already shown what he can do in the Premier League, and I’m sure he’ll be a great addition as we get ready for the new season.
“I’ve liked Lloyd as a player since the beginning of his career.” Besides being a great defender, he is also versatile and a good leader, which I think will make him a great addition to our team and someone our fans will quickly warm up to.
