Lions News: Jahmyr Gibbs is highly regarded by NFL executives and coaches ESPN has initiated its annual series, which involves the surveying of more
than 70 NFL employees from a variety of positions to ascertain the top-10 players at each position. Coaches, executives, and recruiters from all 32 teams are administered that survey. The series commenced on Monday with the top-10 NFL running backs. Despite not being ranked following his inaugural season,
Detroit Lions back Jahmyr Gibbs has already established himself in the top-three. Gibbs secured the third position overall, trailing only Derrick Henry and Saquon Barkley. He achieved a higher ranking than his draftmate, Bijan Robinson. An anonymous AFC executive stated, “He is similar to Reggie Bush, but with a slight increase in authority.” ”
His size will always be a slight concern; however, his speed, instincts, and capacity to alter the game are a concern and may be the best in the league.” The article further states that other NFL employees believe he is most effective as part of a 1-2 punch. However, he is more than willing to run hard, even if his body is not optimally adapted for it.
Despite having 50 fewer carries than any player ranked above him, Gibbs finished fifth in rushing yards (1,412) last year. In 2024, his 16 rushing touchdowns tied the leading mark, and his 5.6 yards per carry ranked third among running backs. It is worth noting that David Montgomery and former Lions running back D’Andre Swift both received ballots in the survey.
However, neither was able to make it into the top-10 or the five “honorable mentions.” On Tuesday, the defensive tackles were included in the lists; however, Alim McNeill was not included. He, too, “received votes.” The Lions were the dominant team on PFF’s top-25 under 25 list a few months ago. This week, it transpired once more with The 33rd Team’s Sam Monson list:
