Nicolas Raskin set for major release clause as Rangers contract update emerges

Rangers F.C. are preparing to make an ambitious move to secure Nicolas Raskin on a new long-term contract.

The midfielder is already tied down until 2028, but his importance to head coach Danny Rohl has placed his future high on the club’s agenda. Ibrox chiefs are keen to open talks with the Belgium international and reward him with improved terms following an outstanding 2024–25 campaign.

Raskin has since cemented his place in the national setup and will have one eye on the 2026 World Cup, further elevating his profile. Given his performances in Scotland, it would be no surprise if leading clubs circle this summer.

Interest from Tottenham Hotspur F.C. has already been reported, and with ambitions to test himself at the highest level, Raskin may seek assurances in any new agreement — including a significant release clause. Such a clause could run into the multi-million-pound range, protecting both player and club.

There had been speculation last summer that the former Standard Liège midfielder might depart following a falling out with Russell Martin, but it was the manager who exited Ibrox instead.

Should a new deal include a sizeable buyout figure, Rangers — backed by Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises — would stand to make a substantial profit if it were activated. Having signed Raskin for just £1.5 million in January 2023, the club could now command an eight-figure fee for one of their prized assets.
