“Not Man United” – Manchester United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe gets furious over UEFA regulation that permits a four-million-pound star to join Newcastle United

After witnessing a possible move being stopped, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who is a co-owner of Manchester United, has declared a rule of UEFA to be “not fair.”

Manchester United had expressed interest in acquiring Jean-Clair Todibo, a defender for Nice. Todibo has also been connected with a move to Newcastle United in the past, and he even paid a visit to St. James’ Park in the summer of 2017. Nevertheless, UEFA regulations have prevented a prospective move from taking place this summer. This is due to the fact that Ratcliffe’s INEOS Group owns Nice in addition to having a minority share of 27.7% in Manchester United.

The reason for this is that Manchester United and Nice are both competing in the Europa League during the 2024-25 season. It is against the rules of UEFA for two clubs that are competing in the same competition to engage in related-party transfers with one another.

A rule that would allow Nice to sell Todibo to a club like Newcastle but not Manchester United has caused Ratcliffe to openly criticize UEFA in an interview. This decision has led to Ratcliffe publicly criticizing UEFA throughout the interview.

According to what he claimed, “They have told us that we are able to sell him to another Premiership club, but we are unable to sell to Manchester United.” However, that is not fair to the gamer, and I do not understand what the impact of that would be.

Although Todibo is estimated to be worth over forty million pounds, it is highly improbable that Newcastle will be granted permission to do a deal with him due to Ratcliffe’s attitude and the fact that they have not yet reached an agreement with Manchester United regarding the compensation amount for sporting director Dan Ashworth.

The rivals of Manchester United, Manchester City, have been able to take advantage of a loophole by reaching an agreement to buy Savio after Girona’s impressive campaign in La Liga. The Spanish club is owned jointly by Manchester City, and both teams will be competing in the Champions League during the 2024–25 season.

Due to the fact that Savio was only on loan at Girona and is actually under contract with Troyes, a Ligue 2 club that is also controlled by City Football Group, the transaction is permitted to take place.
