Manchester United didn’t have Jadon Sancho in their team for Friday’s 1-0 win over Fulham.

Jadon Sancho sent Bruno Fernandes a one-word message after the Manchester United captain played well in the team’s 1-0 win over Fulham at Old Trafford on the first day of the season.

United got three points to start their Premier League season thanks to a late goal from Joshua Zirkzee, who they just signed. Erik ten Hag’s team didn’t take the lead until the 87th minute, but they had several chances to score before that, and Fernandes was a big part of most of what they did well.

In the first half, the Portugal player had two chances to score but Bernd Leno stopped both of them. Additionally, he shared a few pictures on Instagram after the game along with a message for United fans.

“Nothing beats the feeling of being back at Old Trafford,” he wrote in the text, which had a red heart as an illustration. After Fernandes wrote, “PS: fantasy league managers that trust me, I’m sorry for yesterday… I will repay you,” he added the man facepalming and grinning face with sweat emojis.

There was a comment on that Instagram post from Sancho that said “BRUNO!” and had a red heart representing love. Odion Ighalo and Timothy Fosu-Mensah, who used to play for Manchester United, were among the others to thank Fernandes. This week, Fernandes signed a new three-year deal with the team.

Sancho was not on the United team that played Fulham. The 24-year-old didn’t make the 20-person squad for the first Premier League game, even though he came off the bench in last week’s Community Shield match against Manchester City.

Ten Hag said this about his absence: “First, we need depth in the squad. This season will be survival of the fittest, and I can only put 20 players in the squad.” The following week, Jadon got an ear infection and wasn’t fully healthy. He could play, but we chose to keep other players on the bench instead. That might not be the case anymore. Things will get better.

“Today shows how important the subs are—we can’t play everyone the same.” The player may find it frustrating at times, but it’s all about the team and the club. There will be more players in this situation, and we expect them to fight for the club.
