NUFC Chairman Yasir Al-Rumayyan recently submitted a transfer request for Alexander Isak from Newcastle United in advance of the Liverpool meeting

St. James’ Park will host Newcastle United v. Liverpool, with Yasir Al-Rumayyan scheduled to attend.

This is Newcastle’s inaugural home game of the season, and the world of football will be watching it closely due to the transfer saga that has enveloped the two clubs and Alexander Isak this summer.

The match on Monday evening will not feature Isak, who is continuing his strike at Newcastle in an effort to secure a transfer to Liverpool. Already this summer, Newcastle has rebuffed a bid of £110 million for Isak from the Reds.

Newcastle’s striker issued a statement in the week preceding the match, which verified his intention to depart the club. Newcastle responded that the conditions that would have facilitated a sale have not been met, and the striker is now anticipated to remain on Tyneside.

If Newcastle is able to secure the services of two attackers during the final week of the transfer window, the situation may still evolve; however, it is exceedingly unlikely.

Newcastle United’s Yasir Al-Rumayyan has returned to the club amid turbulent transfer negotiations.
Yasir Al-Rumayyan, the chairman of Newcastle United and the administrator of the PIF, has returned to Tyneside for his first match since the 2-1 victory over Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley Stadium in March.

The most recent match he played at St James’ Park was a 4-3 victory over Nottingham Forest in February.

Going into the final week of the transfer window and the Liverpool match, Al-Rumayyan’s return is opportune.

Newcastle is currently in pursuit of a striker, with Brentford’s Yoane Wissa and Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Jorgen Strand Larsen being the main candidates. Both players are considered prospective replacements for Callum Wilson, who departed at the beginning of the summer.

Regarding Isak, Al-Rumayyan has already clarified his position.

The transfer posture of Alexander Isak by Yasir Al-Rumayyan
Immediately following Newcastle’s Carabao Cup victory over Liverpool in March, Al-Rumayyan communicated to those in the background that Isak would not be sold at any price.

Newcastle has at least investigated the possibility of selling Isak this summer, which may have caused a slight softening of their posture. This is due to their pursuit of potential replacements in the transfer window. However, following their unsuccessful attempts to sign Liam Delap, Joao Pedro, Benjamin Sesko, and Hugo Ekitike, the club issued a statement that stated, “As previously communicated to Alex and his representatives, we are committed to prioritizing the well-being of Newcastle United, the team, and our supporters in all of our decisions. We have reiterated that the conditions for a sale this summer have not been met.”

“Those conditions are not anticipated to be fulfilled.”

Darren Eales, Newcastle’s chief executive officer, also emphasized that the club would be “crazy” to contemplate the sale of an elite player like Isak.

Eales stated in March that “We have the intention and desire to retain our key players, as they are all under long-term contracts.” Consequently, we have no intention of relocating those individuals, and we are not in any way under pressure.

“We have an ownership that is ambitious and strives for the club’s success…” So, from that standpoint, it would be absurd for us to contemplate [dealing].

“We will engage in contract negotiations to establish a new agreement, as we did with Joelinton, Bruno [Guimaraes], or Anthony Gordon, as [Isak] has a significant number of years remaining.”
