Odsonne Edouard has placed Celtic on transfer alert due to the absurdity of Leicester City’s nightmare. Odsonne Edouard’s decision to challenge himself in the Premier League following four years of exceptional performance at Celtic was not to be regretted by anyone.
However, his success in the south, where his salary has tripled, serves as a candid reminder that life is not always more idyllic than it is in Parkhead.
The £9m striker, who secured his place as a fan favourite by scoring nearly a century of goals, was acquired from PSG in 2018 following a successful loan. French Eddy, as he was affectionately referred to by the green-and-white faithful, was a consistent thorn in Rangers’ defensive and scored a significant number of goals in Europe, which convinced Crystal Palace to complete a £14m swoop in 2021.
Despite scoring a commendable 22 goals, some supporters had accused Edouard of downing tools following a 10th consecutive season of disaster. It is likely that the Japanese sensation Kyogo’s departure occurred at the appropriate moment, as the Celtic faithful promptly forgot about the Frenchman. Edouard is at a career juncture four seasons later. He was granted the opportunity to restart his career at Leicester City last summer after losing favour at Selhurst Park.
However, the season-long loan agreement has been an absolute catastrophe. Edouard has not played a single minute for the Foxes since November 10, despite his fitness, and has been named to only one matchday squad since Ruud van Nistelrooy assumed the team’s leadership that same month.
