One of Manchester United top player set to miss the FA cup final vs Manchester City
Harry Maguire of Manchester United is worried about his health before the FA Cup final and might not be able to play.
There is no way for Manchester United defender Harry Maguire to know if he will be healthy enough to play in this weekend’s FA Cup final against Manchester City.
Maguire hurt a muscle at the beginning of May, and it was reported that he would be out for about three weeks. This made it uncertain whether he would be able to play in the FA Cup final.
The back played through injuries against Bournemouth and Coventry in April, but he hurt himself again in training and had to miss a while.
Maguire was demoted as captain last summer, but he has had a great season since then, and United was disappointed to hear that he was hurt.
Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane have come back from injuries since Maguire’s, but he could still start in the FA Cup final if he passes a fitness test.
Maguire told talkSPORT on Wednesday that he was still not fully fit and said, “Obviously it’s disappointing and frustrating to get injured at this time.”
“I’m still not sure if I’ll be ready. It’s going to be late. I hope to be able to play in the FA Cup final, but it’s not a sure thing.”
If you remember, Maguire hurt his hip in December and couldn’t play during the holidays. He got better at the end of January, though.
“I think it’s the first time in my career that I’ve hurt a few muscles during the season,” Maguire said of his injuries. “It’s annoying, and it feels different.” You always want to play, so I might need to take a look at how I’m taking care of myself and things like that.
Maguire came off the bench to help United win the Carabao Cup in February of last year and played in the 88th minute when the game was already over.
With a win in the FA Cup final, Maguire will have won his second prize with United. “It would mean absolutely everything,” he stated.
“Winning trophies is a must for players in this club.” That’s what we did last year, and now that the tough season is over, we have a chance to get another one. That is our main goal.”
The former captain of United has been praised for his strong individual play this season. He has played in 31 games across all categories.
